Youth oboe player dies on tour

AN accomplished musician has died and his friend is fighting for life after they were found unconscious in a Hong Kong hotel room while on tour with an Australian youth orchestra.
Western Australian Youth Orchestra's  Joseph Daniel Hall and Evan Andrew Williams, both 21, were discovered inside their room at the Kimberley Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui over the weekend in what police were investigating as a suspected drug overdose.

A hotel worker made the grim discovery.

One of the men was lying on the floor of the toilet cubicle while the other was on the bed.

They were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kowloon where Hall, an oboe player, was pronounced dead on arrival.

Williams, a trombonist, remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Police said there were no external injuries to either man.

A woman has been questioned by police.
